Community Impact
Learning Through Service. Transforming Lives in Kenya.
At Goshen Medical & Technical College, education doesn’t end in the classroom — it extends into the heart of the community.
Our students and faculty are continuously engaged in hands-on outreach initiatives that improve lives in Thika Town, Makongeni Estate, and the wider Kiambu County region.
These efforts embody Goshen’s belief that true learning happens through service and that every professional we train should be a changemaker in society.
Health & Wellness Outreach
Each semester, our Nursing and Community Health students partner with local health centres, public dispensaries, and the Kiambu County Department of Health to offer:
Health & Wellness Outreach
• Free community medical clinics providing basic check-ups, blood pressure and diabetes screening, and maternal health education.
• Immunization and health awareness drives in collaboration with Makongeni Health Centre and surrounding primary schools.
• Public health sensitization campaigns on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, and disease prevention.
Youth Empowerment & Skills Training
Through the School of Business and ICT, Goshen students facilitate digital literacy and entrepreneurship workshops for young people and small traders in Thika’s informal settlements. Past outreach has included:
Youth Empowerment & Skills Training
them with employable digital competencies.
• Financial literacy clinics helping micro-entrepreneurs manage records, savings, and online marketing.
• Career mentorship sessions in local secondary schools, inspiring the next generation to pursue technical and medical careers.
Environmental Stewardship
Recognizing the importance of sustainable development, Goshen integrates environmental awareness into its community service model.
Students regularly lead
🌳 Tree Planting & River Clean-Up Drives
Goshen students lead regular tree-planting activities across Thika Town and organize Chania River clean-up campaigns in collaboration with NEMA-Kiambu and local community groups. These initiatives promote environmental restoration, biodiversity, and cleaner public spaces for the surrounding communities.
♻️ Waste Management & Recycling Awareness
Through outreach in Makongeni schools and markets, our learners conduct interactive sessions on waste segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal. The goal is to build a culture of environmental consciousness from classrooms to households, reducing pollution and improving public hygiene.

🌿 Green Campus Initiatives
Within Goshen itself, students practice what they preach by adopting eco-friendly campus operations—including rainwater harvesting, tree nursery projects, and plastic waste reduction campaigns. These projects make Goshen a living model of sustainability for the wider community.
